Underrated Tricks for Finding the Best Indian Restaurants in Krakow

Here are the exact tips we use every trip to avoid bad food and find that Indian food in Krakow that we're still talking about months later.

Check Google Reviews

The first tip is to check the language that the Google reviews are written in. So, you may not realize this because naturally Google translates its reviews to your native language that you normally use, but if you read the reviews, there will be a little line underneath the reviews that says, "Translated by Google." See original and then in brackets with the language that the original was in. So, you want to find nearby Indian restaurants in Krakow where the locals actually go. So, say for instance, you're looking for a good Indian restaurants in Krakow. You want to look at the Google reviews and see if Google has translated a bunch of reviews that were originally in their native language because that means that's where the locals went.

If you're in Krakow and you're seeing a restaurant where there's, like, German, Indian, French, Italian, and English with all these other languages in the Google reviews, there is a good chance that it's more of like a tourist restaurant. Not always the case, but this is kind of a really easy way to see where the locals go just by reading the language on the reviews.

One Star Reviews

Number two is to read the one-star reviews. One, it can be really funny, but a lot of times those one-star reviews are completely unrelated to the food taste or food quality. It'll be like, "Closed on Tuesday, one star." Or, "I didn't eat here." Had a drink, one star. "Something that is completely not-related to the food. So, it really doesn't matter. So, you want to see what people are actually saying and really pay attention to their original language because if local people are saying one-star food is not very good, you probably won't want to go there. But if they're just complaining that they couldn't get in, it doesn't really matter.

Use Facebook

Number three is to use Facebook. A lot of times cities or countries have Facebook groups that are put on by local people, and they just genuinely want to help and share about their country. It's not the same as blogs that have the same recommendations all the time. If you go in these groups and ask people where they love to eat, where the locals go, or see what people are already recommending, it can be an absolutely amazing gold mine for restaurant tips and recommendations. And it's totally free.

Michelin Guide

Number four is to use the michelin guide. And we're not talking about fancy, hoity-toity $100-$200 tasting menus where you still leave hungry. That's not really our vibe. We like those more local, authentic Indian restaurants in Krakow. But if you go in the Michelin guide and then you filter by Bib Gourmand, these are places that the Michelin people, whoever they are, have gone to and determined that they are a really good experience, good food for a good value. Pro tip: take that restaurant and put it into Google and then look at pictures and, like, click on it. It always says "vibe," and you can check out the vibe to make sure it doesn't look too fancy or too swanky and then go to these spots and have a great meal.

Instagram Places

Number five is to use Instagram places, which you may not have heard about. So if you go to Instagram, you click the magnifying glass and then type where you're going in the search bar. For example, Krakow. Swipe over. There's going to be a little tab called "Places." Click

that. And now you're going to have two feeds, like an all-time feed or a most recent feed, and these are the most recent posts that have been geotagged in Krakow, for example. And you can see what's trending right now. You can see which nearby Indian restaurants Krakow people are actually eating at. Where are the locals going? You can even see what they're eating because they take pictures. So you can see if it looks really good. So this is how we find the best Indian restaurants in Krakow or seasonal places that are totally underrated ways to use one of our favorite social media apps.

Search The Local Language

And number six is to search in the local language in the country's Google version. So you don't go to google. You go to Google and then type the phrase that you're searching for in that country's language. So say you were looking for the best Indian food in Krakow.

You go to Google and type in "Indian opinion," and that would be the best of Krakow's food opinions. You can go to Google Translate and figure out how to say these things, but this is going to give you a massive list of articles written by locals or magazines or newspapers, and it's really kind of like a way to have your boots on the ground in a different country while being outside of the country and find those amazing, incredible local spots to eat.
